What Seattle City Council calls the largest civilian immunization site in the country, opened at the Lumen Field Event Center on Saturday and delivered 2,160 doses.
The event center, located between two sports stadiums in downtown Seattle, will initially vaccinate about 5,000 people a week, but if supply is available, it could reach 150,000, according to the Durkan mayor’s office.
Appointments remain available at the next vaccine clinic scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, said Kelsey Nyland, who heads the city’s vaccine liaison effort. The Vacc Vaccine Vaccine website is operated in partnership with First & Goal սեփական, the Swedish owner of the facility.
“The first day clinic was ‘smooth’ և ‘happy’,” said Nyland, without the long queues in the fast-moving area that housed an emergency field hospital in the first weeks of the epidemic, although unused.
The city plans to provide 1,200 doses on the spot on Tuesday to people who live or work in King շրջանում Level 1A, 1B Level 1 1 2.
Another clinic is scheduled for Saturday with a expected dose of 3,100, Nyland said. For information on appointments available at other Lumen Field Event Center և other city-based sites, email connection information is available at www.seattle.gov/vaccine. People can also call (206) 684-2489 to plan help Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Looking ahead, the site will open two or three days a week, probably on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Last year, Army troops set up a 250-bed field hospital on the site, but it closed without being used when Washington’s predicted COVID-19 cases were lower than expected.
