Tiger Woods is back in video games, this time in 2K series

Tiger Woods is back in the game, digital, at least.

Woods has a long-term partnership with the PGA Tour 2K video game company, returning the 15-time top champion to the industry he once dominated with EA Sports.

The deal was announced on Tuesday, almost a month after Woods suffered a career-threatening leg injury when he was struck by an SUV on a sloping road in a Los Angeles suburb.

Woods may never return to the PGA Tour, where all 82 of his victories have been linked to Sam Snead at all times, but his name and resemblance will only be used under the PGA Tour 2K license. Woods was not among the players in last year’s 2K game, and it is unclear whether he will be added or his name or image will be used on the cover. The 2K news release only states that Woods will be the CEO and Advisor.

Woods has worked with EA Sports for 15 years, and the Tiger Woods PGA Tour is one of the most successful sports video games ever. Woods և EA Sports split in 2013, four years after news of Woods’ extramarital affair tarnished his public image.

EA Sports rebuilt the game from scratch և put Rory McIlroy on the cover in 2015, but the reload received hints of sub-programs. EA Sports has not produced a game of golf since.

“I look forward to returning to the video game landscape. Through միջոցով 2K և HB Studios, I found the right partners to make it happen,” Woods said in a statement released by 2K. “I am honored to participate in this opportunity; I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge as we build the future of golf video games together.”
