The country’s first 3D printed housing community planned in the California desert

California Ranch Mirage, a resort town filled with golf courses and resorts, is in the throes of a 21st century. The Tuber Development Group named it the site of the country’s first 3D printing community, which is scheduled to be completed by next spring.

The Coachella Valley community will cover an area of five acres and will include 15 environmentally friendly homes. All will be made from 3D printed panels by Mighty Buildings, a construction technology company based in Auckland.

Each property will include three bedrooms, a 1,450-square-foot two-bathroom home with a 10,000-square-foot pool, and a $ 595,000 deck. Some will receive an additional 700 square feet of ADU, two bedrooms և a bathroom for $ 850,000.

They also offer high-tech Darwin health systems from New York-based Delos with water purification and zircon lighting. Optional upgrades include pergola, cabana, hot tub, fire extinguisher և outdoor shower.

The pre-sale campaign started in late February և and ended in a matter of days, with buyers paying $ 1,000 to book a place, says Palari CEO Basil Starr.

“It was encouraging to see such demand for these homes,” Starr said, adding that most buyers had been technologically skilled for thousands of years and had stability. Palar accepted the cryptocurrency for deposits, և two buyers paid bitcoin.

The construction will take only a few months, but the project has been prepared for years. Alexei Dubov founded Mighty Buildings in 2017, and since then he, a company with more than 100 employees, has been developing 3D printing technology, certified by Underwriter Laboratories, which tests safety and stability standards.

At a time when a 7,900-square-foot garage in Redwood, California, was converted into a 79,000-square-foot warehouse in Oakland that uses robots to print a composite material the company invented called Light Stone Material. Synthetic stone hardens under the influence of UV rays, which makes it “stronger” than concrete with a durability of more than 70 years.

“It looks like a sack that encloses with a drawstring. “Because it is lighter, we reduce transportation costs,” Dubov said. He added that the material is also more heat efficient than concrete, reducing the energy needed to maintain the temperature of the house.

15 residential communities will be the largest project of Mighty Buildings to date.

The company released its first 3D printed panels last January, and has since built about 10 homes, but the plant will be moving out of homes in the near future. It is currently insufficient for the rest of the year; last month it provided $ 40 million in funding, which, according to Dubov, will be used to increase production capacity.

For the Rancho Mirage project, the houses come as a collection ինչպես fit like Lego bricks. Mighty Buildings manufactures interior և exterior walls that have connectors for easy assembly.

Starr says a typical project of this scale will take about three years, but they plan for no more than a year and a half, as his team can work on foundations and roads to print material for houses alongside Strong Buildings. He said that the installation of houses will take a month, in contrast to the traditional methods – three to six months.

Tuber emphasizes stability, and Starr says current home buyers feel the same way. To find a home-building partner for For, he toured 20 factories, but eventually pursued Mighty Buildings for its և UL certification of post-production technology.

A typical wooden house requires a piece of wood to be cut to size, and debris often ends up in the trash, while 3D printers create the exact material needed. In addition, the automated process uses 95% less staff power as robots build the panels.

“No attention has been paid to stability in construction. “The only emphasis is on cheaper construction, which has created this system of timber construction,” Starr said.

The coronavirus slowed down the project a bit, but opened the door for buyers to live in a place like Rancho Mirage, commonly known as a resort town where the population changes rapidly depending on the season.

“The epidemic has shifted buyer preferences from condoms to single-family homes. “A lot of people work from home, discussing new places like Rancho Mirage, it adds value to these homes,” Starr said.

Palar, based in Beverly Hills, chose Rancho Mirage to be close to Los Angeles և because of its relatively cheap land, և the city itself supported the company’s sustainability goals. Going forward, Palar is planning communities in the Coachella Valley, as well as in the San Fernando Valley in northern-central California.

“Our focus is on California,” Starr said. “It’s the largest single family market in the world.”
