LONDON (AP) – British Prime Minister Boris John Onson has urged people to “act responsibly” as shops, gyms, hairdressers, restaurant basements and breweries reopen after months of blockade.
Monday eased restrictions in Britain that had been in place since early January to curb a wave of coronavirus infections over a new, more contagious new species first discovered in the south-east of the country.
Long lines lined up in front of some shops, including the Nike Town branch on Oxford Street in London, pubs and open-air restaurants, and a barrage of bookings was reported.
Helen Dickinson, chief executive of the British Retail Consortium, said companies that had endured months of forced closures were “excited and desperate” to get their customers back.
Amy Smith, a client at a hairdressing salon in Birmingham, said she was excited about the final refinement.
“It’s great to be here, I’ve been going this strange little node for a few months now,” he said. “I’m going to have a beer garden experience later, so it will be good.”
Many were planning open-air meals and drinks, despite the unreasonably cold weather that brought snow to some parts of London and many other areas.
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are backing similar but broadly similar programs to ease the blockade.
Britain had the worst outbreak of the European coronavirus, with more than 127,000 confirmed deaths.
Infections, hospitalizations, and deaths have all been blocked by the mass vaccination program, which has given at least one dose to more than 60% of the adult population.
The situation in Britain contrasts with many of its neighbors, including France, where new sanctions have been imposed on growing infections and deaths.
John Onson և Epidemiologists urge caution, saying that many people remain unvaccinated աց Loosening the rules of social distance or allowing foreign vacations this summer could trigger a new wave of infections.
In England, closed drinks will not be allowed until the 17th of May at the earliest, and theaters, cinemas, nightclubs, and many other places remain closed, and indoor communication is strictly restricted, and foreign vacations are prohibited.
The Prime Minister promised to visit the tavern to celebrate the occasion in one episode, but postponed the festive drink on Friday after the death of Prince Elizabeth II’s husband Prince Philip at the age of 99.
