Some COVID-19 vaccines are more effective than others.
It is difficult to say because they have not been directly compared in studies. Experts say vaccines are like the most important thing – hospitalization – prevention of death.
“Fortunately, all of these vaccines seem to protect us from serious illness,” said Monica Gandhi, MD, of the University of California, San Francisco, citing the sixth study of five vaccines used around the world that is still under study.
And the real evidence that millions of people are getting vaccines shows that they all work very well.
Still, people may wonder if one is better than the other, because pre-trial vaccine studies have found different levels of effectiveness. The problem is, they do not offer apple-to-apple comparisons.
Consider the two doses of Pfizer և Moderna vaccines, which have been shown to be approximately 95% effective in preventing disease. The studies of these personnel counted the COVID-19 case, whether it was mild, moderate or severe, and were carried out before the disturbing versions of the virus were circulated.
Johnson & Johnson then tested a single dose of the vaccine և did not count mild illnesses. J & J’s shot was 66% defensive, according to a large international study. In the United States alone, where options are less prevalent, it was 72% effective. More importantly, the vaccine prevented hospitalization և death after exposure.
The two doses of AstraZeneca vaccine used in many countries have met with questions about the exact effectiveness of this study. But experts agree that these shots also protect against the worst results.
Hospitalizations around the world are declining in countries where vaccines have been circulated, including Israel, England and Scotland, regardless of the shooting. And the US government’s first glance at real-world data shows that Pfizer և Moderna vaccines are 90% safe, whether or not they have symptoms.
