San Diego No. 19 beats Utah St. 68-57 to win MWC title

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Matt Mitchell scored 14 points to move ahead of San Diego, No. 19, in a 68-57 victory over Utah in Saturday’s West Highway Championship game.

The Aggins have beaten the State of San Diego in each of their last two league games. The Aztecs, who also won the regular season championship, lost six of their previous seven titles.

With the automatic application of the league, the Aztecs return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2018. This is the fifth time in 22 years that he has won the title.

Nathan Mensa added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Aztecs, and Trey Puliam also had 10 points.

Junior center Neemias Queta led the Aggies with 18 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Points Astin Bean added 12 points and six rebounds.
