BERLIN (AP) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold talks with the governors of 16 states on Wednesday during a quick meeting on the coronavirus epidemic, German dpa news agency reported.
According to the news agency, Merkel և will meet with the governors at almost 11 am (GMT 1000). The leaders met for hours Monday and Tuesday early in the morning to discuss new measures to address the epidemic as the country’s infection rate rises again.
One of the most important measures decided was the five-day blockade of Easter to reduce the numbers again. However, the decision was met with much criticism and many questions about how the law allows additional vacations.
In Germany, the number of infections is rising again, as the most contagious version of the virus, first discovered in Britain, is spreading in the country.
Germany has reported more than 75,000 deaths since the outbreak a year ago. The country’s Centers for Disease Control also reported 15,815 new cases. One week ago, 13,435 new cases were registered.
