The crisis of medical oxygen supply to patients with coronavirus has hit African-Latin American countries, where warnings were ignored at the beginning of the epidemic, with doctors saying the shortage led to unnecessary deaths.

It takes about 12 weeks to set up a hospital oxygen plant, and less time to turn industrial oxygen systems into a medical grade network. But in Brazil, Nigeria, as well as in less populous countries, decisions to completely address inadequate resources began only last month after hospital overcrowding and the death of patients.

The lack of access to medical oxygen “I think is one of the issues in determining the health of our age,” said Peter Piot, director of the London School of Hygienic Medicine, who said he survived a severe coronavirus infection, the oxygen he received.

On Thursday, China denied that US diplomats had been tested for COVID-19 following reports from Washington that some of its staff were preparing to undergo the procedure.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hao Lijian told reporters at a daily briefing that “China has never asked American diplomats in China to take anal swab tests.”

The Washington Post reported last week that some U.S. officials told the department they had undergone analog tests.

Biden’s goal is to distribute shares to millions of people with “own capital”

President Joe Biden plans to distribute millions of face masks to Americans in coronavirus-affected communities early next month as part of the government’s efforts to ensure “justice” in the government’s response to the epidemic.

Biden’s plan will distribute the masks not by mail, but through federally qualified community health centers, the country’s food bank and food pantry systems, the White House said Wednesday.

The Department of Defense, Health, Human Services, and Agriculture will be involved in distributing more than 25 million US-made cloth masks for both adults and children. The White House estimates that they will reach 12 million to 15 million people.

“Not all Americans wear masks regularly, not all are available, not all masks are equal,” said White House COVID-19 coordinator FFF Zi Jens.
