Washington state health officials responded Friday with federal advisers calling for the resumption of use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine after an 11-day break, responding to 15 women out of nearly 8 million people receiving the vaccine developing blood clots. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the Food and Drug Administration, announced that the proposed break had been lifted and that filming should resume immediately after the CDC Advisory Committee. It was unclear when a single dose of Johnson & Johnson shots could be resumed in Washington state.
COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Oregon, officials warned on Friday that one-third of the state’s states are at high risk. At the beginning of March, the state’s COVID-19 positive was 3.9%. As of Thursday, it was 5.7%. In addition, Oregon COVID-19 hospitalizations have increased by 39% over the past week, up 109% from the beginning of March.
