King County Business Owners must file a property tax waiver by the end of the month if they lose last year due to a coronavirus outbreak.
As the economic aftermath of the virus continued, state lawmakers passed a bill last week requiring county treasurers to authorize deferral payment plans for certain property taxes by 2021. To qualify, the property must be “used primarily for business”, և the taxpayer must have lost at least a quarter of the income attributed to the property in 2020 compared to 2019.
Taxpayers must apply for assistance by April 30 of each year, when the property tax payment date is for the first half of the year. Under the bill, the county treasurer must reject inquiries submitted after April 30.

The deferral does not apply to residential or non-residential property.
