BERLIN (AP) – Rafael Guerrero scored a late goal against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday to secure a 2-0 Bundesliga win over Unil Berlin to secure Champions League qualifying hopes.
Marco Reus’ goal in the first half helped Dortmund win, leaving them four points behind Eintracht Frankfurt in the last qualifying round of the Champions League with four games left in the season.
But Union questioned the result until the 88th minute, when Julian Brandt created Guerrero, attacking on the counter-attack.
Union striker Marcus Ingvartzen hit the post in the first minute, and the guests kept their early pressure.
Dortmund’s promotion in the 25th minute had more than luck.
Union goalkeeper Andrea Lute was fined for overthrowing Reus, although repetitions suggested he had sunk. The fine was still imposed after the VAR inspection.
Lute then ransomed, saving Erling Haland’s penalty kick with a kick-back, while defender Robin Noch tried to clear the crossbar by introducing Reus.
Lute made a good save to reject Haland shortly after.
Union scored again in the middle of the second half when Marvin Hitz put his fingertips on Max Kruse’s free kick.
Holland had a bad game, խաղ Lute was blocked again in the 86th minute, before he hit the side net during the injury.
Third-placed Wolfsburg went on to qualify for the Champions League at Stuttgart3. Winning by 1 point. Wolfsburg is five points ahead of Dortmund.
Mainz defeated Werder Bremen 1-0 on the road, left the hosts out, and left Hertha Berlin with five points in the relegation zone.
Hertha has played two games less. Hertha was due to host Freiburg on Wednesday, but his three games were suspended as the team was quarantined at the club for two weeks after a coronavirus outbreak.
In addition, “Hoffenheim” fell in the middle of the field by a difference of two goals, beating “Borussia” of Mխnchengladbach 3-2.
