BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) – Richard Bland won the 478th attempt of his first European tour after defeating Guido Migliosi in the play-offs for a dramatic end to the British Masters on Saturday.
Bland became the oldest winner in the history of the 48-year-old European tour for the first time at the age of 48, when he removed the first extra hole in the B-block building after a three-step distance from Miglioc.
The winner played a great 66th final to level the club’s goal to 13, but it seemed that Dangerous Migliotsi was in danger of brutally denying his victory.
The Birdies gave Migliozzi the lead on the 15th and 16th, and he “then” found the green in two or two pieces in the fifth and 17th, but missed five feet for the bird droppings after he went away for the eagle.
Migliozzi’s Tee fired into the wet grass at the edge of the 18th bunker, but after receiving a free drop, he approached the green bunker and went up and down to make extra holes.
Englishman Eddie Peperel won by one goal in the final, but the 2018 champion was only able to finish 73, behind the tournament host Danny Willett for 11th place.
Scotland’s Robert McIntyre, the highest-ranked player in the industry, was part of the leader after poultry in the second and third places, but eventually finished number 45 in the world with 71 points, with compatriots Calum Hill and Edoardo Molinari in eighth place.
