Adults do not yet capitalize on deGrom excellence

New-looking Meters still have a familiar problem. Even when Jacob deGrom is on the hill, they are surprisingly beaten.

DeGrom came out 14th on Saturday, but New York lost 3-0 to the Miami Marlins. In its other start to the season, deGrom held Philadelphia unbeaten for six innings, but in the eighth, the Giants made five runs and lost 5-3.

Whether blamed for poor running support or shocking terrain, New York has not enjoyed the shine of deGrom in the last few years. His right hand won the Cy Young Award in both 2018 and 2019, but he is only 25-20 years old since the start of the 2018 season, despite installing a stellar 2.06 ERA. He has 33 undecided decisions in that period, 22 of those games the hosts lost.

Among the jars that have more victories than deGrom since the beginning of 2018. Marco Gonzalez (36-25 with 4.00 ERA), Jon on Lester (34-19, 4.06), Rick Porcello (32-26, 4.98) and JA Happ (31-16, 4.13).

It is noteworthy that during the last three plus seasons, the “Greats” were mediocre, but not terrible. They have seven games under .500 during that period, so it does not look like deGrom is pushing a basement resident.

But when he was on the mound, New York was sometimes in the abyss. DeGrom has received 4.10 run support over nine periods since the beginning of 2018, according to fangraphs.com. Only three pitchers with more than 300 investments in that period: Cole Hamels, Madison Boomgar և Derek Holland, received less support than deGrom.

Maybe the addition of Francisco Lindor will help this year, but so far it’s been the same old story for the Met և their ace.

Why is it worth it that in 2021 the “Greats” will play 2-1 at the “deGrom” stadium? One of those victories was against Miami on Thursday, when Michael Conforton of New York struck the pitch, forcing him to finish ninth in the bottom. The referee said after the game that the pitch was in the strike zone, he should have called Comforto.

Elsewhere in the NL East, Philadelphia beat Atlanta 7-6 on Sunday night. Alex Bohm made a decisive run on the sacrificial fly on top of the ninth, although he did not seem to touch the plate. At home, the show was so close that the safe call was answered after the inspection

DeGrom went 10-9 at 1.70 ERA in 2018, but in 1987 և 1988 the National League ERA Cups had even fewer wins. Who were they?

Orioles’ Trey Mancini was greeted with applause by the home fans Red hosted by the Red Sox when he took to the pitch at his first home. Mancini has returned after being treated for colon cancer. He missed the 2020 season.

That game on Thursday was a comeback for Eduardo Rodriguez, a Boston pitcher who missed 2020 due to a heart attack.

Finally, Padres had no blows, և he got it thanks to his right-hand man Joe Masgrow, who grew up in San Diego.

Friday night in Texas 3: With a 0-0 victory, Masgrow scored 10 վեց allowing only one main team. Padres was the only active franchise in the major leagues without a hitch.
