WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – The former Florida footballer got involved in a fight with his girlfriend hours ago, when he fatally shot one person and injured another, according to the arrest warrant published on Thursday.
Travis Rudolph, 25, was ordered to stay in jail during the first hearing in West Palm Beach on Thursday morning. He was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree murder.
Deputies detailed the shooting in a certificate issued by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say Rudolph’s girlfriend told them she called a male friend after the fight on Wednesday. The girlfriend և three other men then և went to Rudolph’s house, where a fight broke out. A witness told investigators that Rudolf ran after the men, shot them after they got into their car and started driving.
The deputies found a dead man inside the car and a wounded man outside the car. Shortly afterwards, authorities arrested Rudolf.
The case is now before a large jury. Judge Charles Burton on Thursday barred Rudolf from contacting any of the victims or their families. Rudolf told the judge he intended to hire a lawyer.
Rudolph was the leading host in the state of Florida from 2015 to 2016. He soon left the team to play in the NFL in 2017. He eventually signed with the New York Giants and then the Miami Dolphins.
