BERLIN (AP) – 16-year-old striker Yusuf Mukoko was included in the German Under-21 team for the upcoming European Championship on Monday.
Muokoko, who scored his third goal in the Bundesliga on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund against Hertha Berlin (2-0), is one of four players to make his 23-player debut.
“At Yusuf we have an extraordinary talent in Germany that we want to carefully match the performances,” said Germany Under-21 coach Stefan Kunz. “That’s why we decided to be in close contact with Borussia Dortmund, to nominate him, because we believe that his participation will benefit both his and the team’s development.”
Schalke defender Malik Tiav, Stuttgart midfielder Mateo Klimovic and Greuther Furth midfielder Anton Stach are the other new calls.

“Our clear goal is to qualify for the final stages of the summer, even if we know it will be a big challenge,” said Kunts.
